Shaun Tan in Melbourne: Presentation for Yr 10-12 Art students... more.

In addition to Booked Out's dedication to connecting schools to authors, we have also represented some of Australia's best illustrators for over twelve years. Some of our favourites are still available to talk to students - and not just primary. The following speakers are just a few of our illustrators who are suited to VCE talks:

Sally Rippin is a celebrated children's book author and illustrator who is available for talks on the process of designing and illustrating a picture book. This has particular relevance to Unit 3, Outcome 1 of Visual Communication and Design - applying the design process to produce a final visual communication presentation that satisfies a specified communication need.

Geoff Kelly has worked in advertising and is now a children's book illustrator. His design work can still be found on billboards, T-shirts and in supermarkets. His next book, due out in 2006 will be a spoof on 'How-to' drawing books.

He is available for informative and humourous talks on his experiences working in both industries and what to expect.

Two of the picture books Geoff Kelly has illustrated.

Jeff Raglus is a successful artist who is well known for his quirky pop art style which was for many years transferred to surfboards, t-shirts and other apparel by surf brand Mambo.

He also designed a 'Sydney 2000' watch for Swatch, animated the Melbourne Public Transport Commission's THE LERT, and has had heaps of galleries exhibit his work. Below is one of his paintings, POLICE AND THEIVES.

Jeff's presentations involve slides of his artwork, tips on how to get started and motivation to live your post-year 12 life to the fullest.
