STORYTELLER

Andy Wright is an international performance story-teller who now regularly visits Australia as a part of his worldwide programme. Andy is a fourth generation story-teller having had a blind mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, all of whom although lacking physical sight, passed on to Andy the gift of storytelling.

Andy has told stories all around the world performing in theatres, schools, kindergartens, libraries and to numerous conferences, and festivals, from audiences of 30 to audiences of 3000.

He uses his storytelling to promote literacy, reading, and the love of literature. Most importantly he portrays a sense of fun, mixing a fine blend of humour with true emotional pathos.

As well as folk and fairy tales, Andy tells a number of personal stories about growing up in a provincial city. Many of these tales explore common elements of our own personal journeys, as well as classical models of odyssey and discovery, well suited to mixed audiences.

For teenagers and adults, Andy performs a variety of horror stories, guaranteed to please and scare, many of these stories link strongly into the history and English curriculum, with elements common to Shakespeare and Spencer.

After telling stories around the world for over a decade, Andy is committed to helping children and adults discover their own stories and celebrate their own culture and the culture of others. He provides Storytelling performances for all ages, plus providing workshops for older students and staff, exploring the history and technique of storytelling, and unlocking our own personal stories.
