Booked Out started the Shortcuts resources in 2007. Because the shortlist was only just announced on April 1, the 2008 resources are only just at the writing stage.

Watch this space for a preview of the 2008 Shortcuts to the Shortlist student learning activities.

In the meantime, please have a look at some samples from last year which will give you an idea of the high quality of these CDs.

Linnet Hunter

Linnet is an education consultant and has been a facilitator in the learning of primary, secondary and more recently, tertiary teachers. Other hats she wears include reviewer, critic, Clayton’s Judge, technical writer, secondary English teacher and teacher-librarian.

Linnet wrote the 2007 Shortcuts with Marcia Phillips while juggling many other projects including writing The Age's Bookweek lift-out special on Shaun Tan's The Arrival.

 

Melinda Atkinson

Melinda is a final year B.Ed (Primary) student at the University of Melbourne. During her studies she has been contracted by a non-profit multicultural education organisation to develop a series of comprehensive teachers resource notes that reflect the Victorian Essential Learning Standards and Principles of Learning and Teaching. Under Linnet's tutelage in 2007, they discovered a mutual appreciation for the inquiry model, integrated curriculum...and Shaun Tan!

Cost: $50 incl GST per CD including postage and handling. One category per CD, ie. One CD for Picture Books, one CD for Younger Readers.

Payment can be made by cheque or EFT. The CD(s) will be posted to you on completion of the writing the notes at the end of May.
