AUTHOR

Sally Freud was born in Malaysia, the daughter of a British Army Officer and an Irish actress. At the end of her father's army career, the family moved to Australia.

She has had two adult non fiction books published: THANK YOU, GOOD NIGHT - A collection of humorous anecdotes about the Australian music industry (Random House Australia, 1999) and FLYING NORTH FOR THE WINTER - A HISTORY OF THE SYDNEY SWANS FOOTBALL CLUB (Random House, 2000).

In 2002 her first childrens' book THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE was published through Harper Collins and has since been reprinted twice. It has also been included on some Victorian Secondary School Book Lists.

The sequel, CAGED, was released through Harper Collins in August 2004.

Sally is an experienced speaker who is available to talk to primary and secondary school students, as well as adult groups. Last year she spoke at various primary schools and opened the SLAV Festival. Sally most recently appeared at the Somerset Festival in Queensland.

When not writing, Sally works in the film and television industry as a freelance producer. She lives in Queensland with her husband, music industry legend, James Freud (author of autobiography, The Voice Left from Drinking) and her two sons.
