AUTHOR

Rebecca Sparrow didn't always want to be a writer. When she was six years old she wanted to be the blonde woman out of ABBA, a movie star and Mrs Donny Osmond. None of those career paths panned out. Instead, Rebecca went on to have a series of "dream" jobs ...

She's schmoozed with the stars as a television publicist for the Nine Network in Sydney; travelled the world for free as the editor of Australia's largest travel magazine and these days gets to work from home in her pyjamas as the author of the recent best-selling novel THE GIRL MOST LIKELY (UQP). THE GIRL MOST LIKELY was recently awarded the joint winner of the 2004 Brisbane City Council's "One Book, One Brisbane" campaign.

Rebecca also works as a freelance writer and has had more than 150 articles published in newspapers and magazines across Australia. And in her spare time, in a voluntary capacity, Rebecca works with War Child Australia: a not for profit organisation dedicated to providing immediate, effective and sustainable aid to children in war zones.

Having almost completed her eagerly awaited second novel, Rebecca is available for workshops on the following topics:

* The Girl Most Likely: Rebecca's journey from average student to Top 10 author
* Full esteem ahead: dream jobs and how to get them
* Creative writing (writing creatively, how to get started, creating characters and avoiding writer's block!)
* Journalism (interview techniques, news writing and tips on becoming a freelance writer for magazines)

"Sparrow's chronicle of a quarter-life crisis is indisputably energetic and has an easy confidence with character and place not commonly seen in Australian first efforts."
