It
was the story of three orphans who inherit a haunted house
before finding themselves entangled in an international
diamond smuggling ring, but Kim unfortunately burnt the
manuscript in a fit of teenage disdain. At
this time she threw herself into fantasy writing, where
an unpopular buck-toothed girl saves the world. (After
she got braces these heroines became remarkably starighter
in the ivory department...) |

The
usual stream of odd jobs were followed by a return
to study and so far Kim's picked up an English
degree with first class honours, a university
medal, and an MA in creative writing. Her PhD
is currently in progress.
Kim's
first novel, THE INFERNAL,was
published in 1997 in Australia, the UK and Europe.
It also won the 1997 Aurealis Awards for best
horror novel, and best fantasy novel.

first trilogy, EUROPA SUITE,
is well under way, with THE
AUTUMN CASTLE (2003) and GIANTS
OF THE FROST (2004) already published.
THE SNOW WITCH is

Kim also has a YA series out through HarperCollins

An engagingly
vibrant speaker, Kim's passion for the written word
is incredibly enthusiastic. In her own words, "I
love writing more than I can adequately express. It
is the balm for my soul - I love to lose myself in a
story, and I get so attached to the characters that
it's not unusual for me to go to pieces emotionally
while finishing a book. Everything I write is written
with the utmost care and attention; I can honestly say
that my heart is in my work."

"Gina is a great character,
likeable, intelligent, flawed and believable."
- Viewpoint
"Giants of the Frost
is beautifully rendered...Quite possibly her finest
work yet."
