AUTHOR
/ ILLUSTRATOR
|
|
In
the early 1980s, John Harrison had his first success
as a writer and illustrator with LUCY
MOUSE, which he wrote for his daughter.
|
|
 |
|
 |
He
currently lives and works in Brisbane and for
more years than he cares to remember, he has played
bass clarinet as a member of the Queensland Orchestra,
the state's premier performing arts organisation.
|
|
Convinced
he should not give up that particular day job,
John has pursued his interests in writing and
illustrating in a part-time capacity...until recently
that is. With UQP's publication of FERGAL
ONIONS, a wonderful book about a man who
rediscovers his passion for music (and life),
John has been encouraged to produce more work
in the world of children's literature.
|
 |
|
As
a result, John is now happily devoting much time
and energy to that end.
He
is available to talk to primary school students
about both writing and illustrating, in larger
groups or smaller workshops.
***John
Harrison's delightful debut
FERGAL ONIONS has
been awarded a CBCA Notable Book in the early
reader's / picture book category. ***
