ADAM FORD POET / AUTHOR / ZINEMAKER
Adam Ford has read his writing for audiences all over Australia, including schools, festivals, museums, galleries, cafes, pubs, loungerooms and public transport. His first novel, MAN BITES DOG (Allen & Unwin), follows the misadventures of a recent Uni graduate in Melbourne's inner city. NOT QUITE THE MAN FOR THE JOB, also published by Allen & Unwin, is a collection of laconic Melbourne poetry that is of great appeal to students. Adam has been editor of journals including Voiceworks, &, moments and the zine anthology Chimp Frenzy. He publishes an irregular zine called Jutchy Ya Ya and has also published a bunch of comics. Currently co-editor of the annual literary journal Going Down Swinging, Adam has worked as an editor, copywriter, security guard, teacher, music journalist, paperboy, librarian and sold deep-fried chicken for a short period in the early nineties. He has taught many workshops and short courses for universities, secondary schools, libraries and city councils across Australia on topics as diverse as poetry, zine-making, music journalism, fan fiction, self-publishing and how to scam free stuff. Adam is currently studying graphic design and animation at RMIT TAFE, with the hope of one day being able to make the Godlings dance the tarantella.
