ADOLESCENT PSYCHOLOGIST

Dr Michael Carr-Gregg is one of Australia’s highest profile psychologists. He was an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne for seven years and is currently working in private practice. His PhD on adolescents with cancer — completed at the University of NSW — resulted in
the formation of CanTeen, a support group for teenagers with cancer.

Michael specialises in the area of parenting adolescents and adolescent mental health. He has been the Consultant Psychologist to the Victorian Secondary Schools Principal's Association, Australian Boarding Staff Association, Australian Ballet School, St Catherine's School, and Melbourne Girls' College. In 2003 he was one of the founding members of the National Coalition Against Bullying and became one of their national spokespersons. He also served on the advisory committee for the Federal Government's Boys' Education Lighthouse School Programme.

 

Michael has extensive experience in the media and is currently a regular on Neil Mitchell's morning program on radio 3AW. In 2002 Michael was asked to be the official psychologist to Girlfriend Magazine, the best selling magazine for young women in Australia. In 2005 he was asked to be a columnist for the new boys magazine Explode. Michael is also regular contributor to a variety of magazines including Australian Doctor and the Herald Sun - Australia's biggest selling newspaper.

Most importantly, Michael is married and has two children, supports Hawthorn in the AFL and South Sydney in the NRL. In 2000, he was the subject of a This Is Your Life program on Channel 9. He is in constant demand across Australia as a speaker, entertainer and educator.

Michael has prepared workshops and talks for students, parents and teachers but, with much flexibility, can also cover a variety of other issues.
