With
an employment history of textile design, Judith
Rossell has flourished as a freelance illustrator
in the last five years. Most of her work has been
for children's books and other publications, but
Judith has also done illustrations for government
publications, greetings cards, packaging design
and toys. Beyond Australia, Judith has also enjoyed
the challenge of illustrating a number of school
readers for the American market.

Since
1999, Judith has illustrated three books by Jackie
French including STAMP, STOMP,
WHOMP (Angus & Robertson) and THE
FASCINATING HISTORY OF YOUR LUNCH (Angus
& Robertson). Another of these titles, HOW
TO GUZZLE YOUR GARDEN was shortlisted by
the Children's Book Council of Australia in 2000.

In
2002, ABC published Judith's first book entirely
written and illustrated by herself, entitled THE
LOST TREASURE OF THE GREEN IGUANA. An amazingly
detailed maze book, it takes an adventure to track
down the intreped explorer, Dr Fortuito, and lost
treasure. It has been reprinted once in Australia
and sold editions in the UK, Germany and Denmark.
Most
of Judith's books have been aimed at middle and
upper primary school students, meaning she would
be most interested in speaking to children from
Year 2 to Year 6. Judith can speak on different
styles of children's books illustrations; the
process of illustration; how books are put together;
the different people involved in production. Judith's
also always keen to draw a maze or two!
