Sue
Lawson trained as a primary school teacher before
pursuing her ambitions to work in the media. Sue
had always written journals, diaries and creative
work but found journalism to be her outlet. She
spent ten years in radio, her career peaking as
the ABC's first woman breakfast announcer in regional
Australia, broadcasting across western Victoria
from 3WV in Horsham.

After
her move to Horsham and a challenging battle with
illness, Sue realised she needed more than radio
and began to finetune her fictional writing skills.
Whilst balancing motherhood, Sue travelled to
workshops and conferences sourcing inspiration
from new friendships and a particularly inspirational
weekend session with John Marsden.
Moving
to Colac, Sue found the break in publishing she
had been waiting for. Lothian bought DRAGON'S
TEAR, her first novel that tells the story
of Cam, a friendless boy and his dysfunctional
family who have moved to a small country town.
Readers grew to expect much from Sue after DRAGON'S
TEAR and future releases have not disappointed

2003
has seen the publication of Sue's first picture
book, MY GRAN'S DIFFERENT
(Lothian), and her second YA novel, FERRET
BOY (Lothian). TESSA,
Sue's third novel, will also be published in 2003.
Sue
is happy to work with any age group - city or
country - to continue sharing her love for writing.

"Sue
manages to bring the session content to life with her
talent, dedication and enthusiasm for writing. There
was a very positive response from all our students,
and they continued to display knowledge and interest
in the ongoing tasks set in the following days."
- Angela McGlynn, Trinity College, Colac.
