RANDY SCHRADER

ILLUSTRATOR / GRAPHIC DESIGNER / CARTOONIST & TEACHER

Randy has had 12 years experience working in the the commercial illustration and design industry.Prior to this, he worked as a primary teacher for 20 years.

Over this period he has amassed an enormous amount of experience in theindustry. Along with his talent for creative illustration, Randy has also developed substantial skills in the areas of digital illustration and graphic design.

Randy lists among his clients, companies such as CADBURY SCHWEPPES, THE AFL, ARNOTTS, ALLENS, ARISTOCRAT and many more.

Although Randy has created many distinctive packaging designs (some of which would be easily recognized by children and adults alike) for his clients. His forte is in creating novel digital illustration and character development.

Some easily recognizable characters which Randy has created include; THE BRISBANE LION, THE SYDNEY SWAN, YOGO GORILLA and Associated characters, Red Tulip's Humpty Dumpty, The Jelly Mallows and more recently, the 2006 Black cockatoo character for the commonwealth games.

In addition to owning and running a successful Illustration and design business, ( The Toon company ) with his wife Julie, Randy conducts a variety of lectures / workshops at Primary, Secondary and Tertiary level covering areas including:


- VCE Visual Arts Outcomes
- Commercial Illustration and Packaging
- Character creation
- Action Figures
- Cartooning
- Caricature and Murals

Randy is keen to talk to students of all ages and to pass on some of the knowledge and expertise he has developed over the years. He uses an interactive , show and tell approach in his workshops and enjoys helping students to develop and enhance their own style in their work and also demonstrating new and innovative techniques and Tricks of the trade.

Randy brings a valuable insight into the commercial world of Illustration and Graphic design which students may not experience till much later , in the normal course of their education.
