AUTHOR

Nick Earls is the author of six books, including the best-selling novels ZIGZAG STREET (which is currently being developed into a feature film) and BACHELOR KISSES. His work has been published internationally in English and also in translations, which led him to be nominated for a Queensland Premier's Export Award in 1999.

His most recent novel for the adult market, HEADGAMES, was published in March 1999 and was the highest-selling new Australian fiction title nationally that month. He toured India and Europe with a live show based on stories in HEADGAMES, and India's Chandigarh Tribune called it "hilariously boisterous".

48 SHADES OF BROWN, is his novel for young adults, particularly those "not quite seventeen - a time when everyone offers you advice, and nobody takes you seriously." His earlier works include the award-winning young adult novel AFTER JANUARY and PASSION, a collection of short stories that was equal runner-up in the 1993 Steele Rudd Australian Short Story Award.

Nick Earls has an honours degree in Medicine from the University of Queensland, and lives in Brisbane. London's Mirror newspaper has called him "the first Aussie bloke to make me laugh out loud since Jason Donovan".
