Since growing up in a housing commission flat in Melbourne, Michael Wagner has played in a band that almost became famous, spent 10 years as a radio broadcaster with the ABC, written and produced animation for television (including scripts for the OLD TOM TV series), and is now one of Australia's most unique and popular children's authors.

In the past few years Michael has written over 30 children’s books, but is best known for his MAXX RUMBLE FOOTY and CRICKET series (short-listed for the 2005 YABBA, COOL and KOALA awards), the acclaimed novel DOG WARS , and his hilarious and warm-hearted new series about a hyper-sporty father and son known as THE UNDYS (Penguin Australia, 2007).
Realeased in 2008 was the newest book in the Undys series, WET AND WILD. Michael will follow this release up in 2009 with ONE WACKY WEEK, the fifth in the Undys series.

Michael's entertaining, uplifting talks bring his stories to life, support teachers by enthusing kids to read and write, equipping students with new writing skills, and provide insights into the techniques of an author.
Michael enjoys talking to primary school children of all ages, and conducts workshops with primary and secondary students. |
