Over the years, he's worked as a drainer's labourer, a truck driver, a bathroom accessories salesperson, an Internet consultant, an Electronic Publisher, and a secondary school teacher as well as working in a scrap metal yard.
Michael, as a human and as an author, is enchanted by the magic of story. He says "The primal need in all of us to listen to or to tell stories is one of the things that makes us human. Stories help us learn, they help us construct meaning in the face of a vast and sometimes baffling universe. Stories entertain us, help us share in laughter and tears and thus share a common humanity. Making stories is a privilege, and I'm constantly thrilled by being a part of the grand tradition of storytelling." |
Michael Pryor has published more than twenty books and over forty short stories. He is the author of several successful series, spending most of his current efforts on the Laws of Magic series (for YA readers) and Chronicles of Krangor (for younger readers). |

"Michael Pryor was an enthusiastic and polished speaker. He performed well with big and small groups. Michael is calm, assertive, encouraging and interesting. He did capture his audience."
- Diane Rufus, Penola Catholic College.
"I am writing to thank you for all your help in arranging Michael Pryor to be our writer in residence. The three days were very successful, with great feedback from both students and staff. Michael was a pleasure to deal with, was very easy going and gave generously of his time as well as of course sharing the process of writing with the students in a totally professional manner.
We would certainly recommend him to any school at any age level."
- Michelle Feiglin and Kitty Ross, Yeshivah College.
