Gary
Crew is Australia's most awarded author for Children
and Young Adults having won the Children's Book
Council Book of the Year four times - twice for
his Young Adult novels and twice for his illustrated
books. He
has also won the National Children's Book Award,
the NSW and Victorian Premiers' Awards, the Ned
Kelly Award for crime fiction and twice been short
listed for the Edgar Allan Poe Mystery Fiction
Award in the USA.

Gary
began his career as an Engineering Draftsman graduating
from QIT as a Design Draftsman in 1970. He began
teaching High School in 1973 and resigned as Head
of English to write full time in 1988. He has
subsequently written more than 40 books (including
GOTHIC HOSPITAL, OLD
RIDLEY, STRANGE OBJECTS
and THE WATERTOWER)
which are published all over the world.

Gary
is an experienced editor. He is also Senior Lecturer
and Co-Ordinator of Creative Writing at the University
of the Sunshine Coast. Because
of his University and writing commitments Gary
finds it difficult to tour visiting schools but
is happy to do in-service work with teachers,
teacher trainees, educators and other adult groups.
