aka CARTOON DAVE:
CARTOONIST, AUTHOR, AND "THAT GUY FROM TV"!
Dave Hackett is the kind of guy who likes to draw sumo-wrestling grannies and guitar-wielding punk snails. His cartoons can be seen in newspapers, magazines, books, on posters, T-shirts and the sides of vans and garbage trucks throughout the nation. |

Dave is the author of four cartooning books, Cartoon Your Head Off, Cartoon Your Big Slimy Brains Out, Cartoon Dave's No-Rules Cartooning and Fab Face Freak-Out. These instructional cartooning books show children that there are no rules in cartooning and anything is in! In the past twelve years, over 70 000 people have attended Dave's workshops in schools, libraries and art galleries across Australia.
His cartooning has also led him to several television appearances as Cartoon Dave. These have included the Disney Channel, with his popular cartooning segment, The Big Doodle and a craft segment, Get Crafty, as well as regular scribblings in Disney Adventures Magazine.
You might also have seen him on Good Morning Australia with Bert Newton, Totally Wild, The Big Arvo, Toasted TV, ABC's Creature Features, a shark-infested Texta TV commerical. Some of earliest but most fondly remembered television spots were with the immensely popular Cheez TV. He has been on TV in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and China.
Recently, Dave has branched into literature, following his debut novel, UFO: Unavoidable Family Outing, with UFO In the USA and UFO Afloat. The original UFO earned him a place on the selection list for the 2008 W.A. Young Readers Book Award.

Dave lives in the Blue Mountains with his wife, children and a small hairy dog. He used to love stamp collecting, once won a bunch of fridges and washing machines on Wheel of Fortune, and is a keen traveller, having visited every continent on our planet besides Asia, Europe, Africa, Antarctica and South America.
Dave loves to eat toasted bacon and honey sandwiches, was once a 14-night champion on Channel 9's 'Catch Phrase', patted Simon Townsend's dog (Woodrow) when he was eleven, and rates his on-stage dance with the real Greg Brady at Rooty Hill RSL as a life-defining moment.
