AUTHOR

Reading and writing have always been a big part of Corinne’s life, although she didn’t start writing children’s books until she had children of her own. Since completing a Professional Writing and Editing Diploma in 1996, she has devoted her time to writing children’s books and being involved in the children’s book industry.

She worked part time in the Children’s Book Council Victorian Office for nine years and now is the Victorian Co-ordinator of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in Australia. During that period Corinne has had eighteen books published, including several in educational reading programmes, but her passion will always be picture books.

When she is not writing, Corinne presents to schools, libraries and adults about writing, research and the story behind her award winning picture book ‘Queenie: One Elephant’s Story’ which was illustrated by the talented Peter Gouldthorpe.  In these presentations Corinne shares with students and teachers her love of Queenie and talks about the fascinating people she has met who ‘knew’ this special elephant and some who even rode on her back.

Corinne has a PowerPoint presentation of original photos of Queenie and other zoo animals and engages students to talk about the differences between zoos today and what they were like ‘way back then.’ She also screens some original movie footage of Queenie giving rides in 1944.

The Dog On The TuckerboxThe Dog on The Tuckerbox is Corinne's latest book, illustrated by Peter Goldthorpe. It was published in July by Black Dog Books, and Corinne toured country New South Wales and Victoria to celebrate it's release.

Building on an Australian icon and a piece of history living in our collective memory, The Dog On The Tuckerbox provides a strong interest point for young children to discuss during Corinne's visits.
