Chrissie Perry
AUTHOR
Portrait

Chrissie Perry remembers being a kid, though it was a very long time ago for her. She remembers thinking that authors were probably a different species from another planet. It didn’t occur to her that you could actually meet one!

It’s special now, for her to be able to get out there and talk to kids. To foster and encourage a love of stories and of reading and writing.

The phenomenally successful Go Girl! Series has captured the hearts and minds of thousands and thousands of Australian girls, and is now being born in America, Canada, Brazil and the UK.

The books reflect girl’s current moral dilemmas, situations and issues in a format which is appealing and informative without ever becoming didactic. Real girls, real life is its golden guideline, and real girls have certainly responded.

Chrissie has penned twelve Go Girls! The seven books she has written in the Star School series are fun and upbeat. More dreams than real life. Her current tally of books for children and Young Adults has just hit the thirty mark, and she hopes there are many more to come. For details, look up www.chrissieperry.com

Chrissie’s presentations are highly interactive, incorporating role plays and quizzes. She asks kids to help her create a character, and a storyline. She requires their assistance in navigating a problem, and in exploring the repercussions of different character choices.

“It’s a delight to see how involved the children become, and how they are able to dive right into an imaginary world,” says Chrissie.

Inevitably, the audience is excited to discover its own skill.

Maybe writers are real people after all – just like them!

‘We had a parent come in today very positive about the event and how her daughter beamed for days..that she 'couldn’t believe that she had met an author'!
