Carole Wilkinson is interested in the history of everything. In fact, she finds the hardest thing about writing books is to stop doing the research. This attention to researched detail, explains the success of her new series about the Egytpian Prince, RAMOSE (Black Dog Books).

Carole was born in England, but came to Australia as a teenager. She tried a number of jobs (including selling peanuts and cutting up cats' brains) before she decided that she really wanted to be a writer at the age of 40. Since then she has written novels, scripts for TV and non-fiction books - all drawing strongly upon ideas from the world around her and from interesting facts from history. Carole ensures she has never had 'writers' block' (touch wood!), suggesting she is simply "making up for lost time."

Suitable for 9 - 14 year olds, the four-part Ramose series, include RAMOSE: PRINCE IN EXILE (after an assasination attempt on Prince Ramose, he plans his fight to be the pharoah's rightful heir in exile) and RAMOSE & THE TOMB ROBBERS (an adventure through Prince Ramose's kidnapping by tomb robbers).

All the books are exceptionally researched recreations of life in ancient Egypt, with gripping fictional storylines. After six months of study (every time tracking down more Egyptologist texts through each bibliographies) Carole felt she knew enough to reasonably accurately present the world through Ramose's eyes.

Carole has also written historical fiction about medieval France (KNIGHT'S PROGRESS), the Victorian town of Ballarat during the gold rush and contrastingly, a book set in modern times but about a boy finding an old shipwreck (WATERY GRAVES).
