AUTHOR

After being born in Papua New Guinea in 1972, Anthony Eaton spent an idyllic childhood growing up in the Perth hills, apart from a two and a half year stint with his family on the Cocos Keeling Islands.

He attended High School and University in Perth, and studied a plethora of subjects before settling on a career in Teaching. He worked at Trinity College in Perth as a Literature and Drama teacher for eight years, during which time his first novel, THE DARKNESS was published by the University of Queensland Press. The novel was awarded the 2001 Western Australian Premier’s award for Young Adult Literature, and encouraged Anthony to turn his hand to further writing

His second novel, A NEW KIND OF DREAMING was published in 2001, and was a CBCA notable book for 2002. It was also included in the prestigious International Youth Library Selection of Notable books (White Ravens) 2002 catalogue, and shortlisted for both the WA Premier's award, and for the Vision Australia Young Adult Audio book of the year award.

In 2002 he also released NATHAN NUTTBOARD: HITS THE BEACH - his first book for younger readers. A second NATHAN NUTTBOARD will be published in 2008.

FIRESHADOW was published in 2003 and THE GIRL IN THE CAVE, Anthony's second book for younger readers, came out in mid-2004. In 2005, FIRESHADOW won him his second WA premier’s award for Young Adult Literature and was named an honour book in the CBCA Book Of the Year awards.

His most recent books are NIGHTPEOPLE and SKYFALL, the first two books of his DARKLANDS speculative fiction trilogy. At the moment, Tony is in the final stages of researching an historic adventure novel set in Antarctica. As a part of this, he spent Christmas 2005 at Casey Station in Antarctica as part of the Australian Antarctic Division’s Arts Fellowship programme.

Anthony lives in Canberra with his wife, Imogen, and a slightly deranged Kelpie named Chelsea.
