AUTHOR

Anthony Hill is a Canberra-based author of books for both children and adults. He was a newspaper journalist for several years before moving to New South Wales with his family to set up an antique shop.

After this, Anthony spent ten years as a speech writer for the Governor-General. He recently retired from this post to concentrate on his novel writing. To date, Anthony has written for a varied audience, the antique inspired THE BUNBURYISTS, his first childrens book BIRDSONG and three novellas illustrated by Mark Sofilas, THE BURNT STICK, SPINDRIFT and FORBIDDEN.

Anthony has travelled to Gallipoli and the battlefields of France, Belgium and Germany to research his young adult novels SOLDIER BOY (Penguin) and YOUNG DIGGER (Penguin). In 2002, SOLDIER BOY won the Ethel Turner Prize in the NSW Premier's Literary Awards and was shortlisted for CBC Book of the Year.

Anthony's school visits are a fantastic way to approach both writing and Australian history from a fresh perspective.
